Paver Patios for Fargo-Area Homes

A professionally installed paver patio gives your backyard a solid, beautiful foundation for relaxing, grilling, dining, entertaining, and enjoying more time outside.

At 46 North Landscape Company, we design and install custom paver patios for homeowners in Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and surrounding communities. Whether you want a simple backyard sitting area, a fire pit patio, a walkway, or a complete outdoor living space with a pergola, pavilion, sunroom, or planting plan, we help create a space that feels intentional, durable, and built for the North.

More Than a Patio — A Better Way to Use Your Backyard

A great patio changes how your home feels. It gives you a clean, comfortable place to gather with family, drink coffee in the morning, host friends, sit around a fire, or simply enjoy your yard without standing in grass, mud, or uneven ground. A paver patio can also become the starting point for a larger outdoor living plan. Add a pergola for shade, a pavilion for coverage, a fire pit for evening use, walkways for better flow, or planting beds to soften the space and make it feel finished.

Why Homeowners Love Paver Patios

Paver patios are popular because they offer design flexibility, visual interest, and a finished look that can complement many home styles. Unlike one large slab of concrete, pavers are installed as individual units over a prepared base system. That allows for patterns, borders, curves, color combinations, and design details that can make the patio feel custom.

Pavers are also practical for northern climates because the installation system matters just as much as the surface. A properly built paver patio includes planning, excavation, soil compaction, base preparation, edge restraints, bedding sand, and paver placement — not just laying blocks on the ground. CMHA’s interlocking concrete pavement construction guidance outlines those same core installation steps, including layout, excavation, soil compaction, aggregate base preparation, edge restraints, bedding sand, and paver installation.

Pretty patios get attention. Properly built patios last.

A Patio Is Only as Good as
What’s Under It

The part you see is the paver. The part that matters most is everything underneath it.

A professional patio installation includes planning the layout, checking grades, accounting for drainage, excavating to the proper depth, compacting the soil, installing a stable base, screeding bedding sand, setting pavers carefully, securing the edges, and finishing the joints.

Done correctly, those steps help the patio stay flatter, drain better, and perform better through seasonal freeze-thaw conditions.

Before excavation, North Dakota law requires anyone digging to notify 811 at least 48 hours in advance so underground facilities can be marked.

What Kind of Patio Fits Your Home?

Every backyard is different. Some homeowners need a small sitting area. Others want a full outdoor living space with room for dining, grilling, shade, fire, and plants. During your consultation, we look at how you want to use the space first — then design the patio around real life.

Outdoor Living Built for the North

Fargo-area patios need to be designed with real Midwest conditions in mind: drainage, freeze-thaw cycles, snow, wind, sun exposure, soil conditions, and how the space connects to the rest of the yard.

At 46 North, we think beyond the patio surface. We look at the full outdoor space — where people will walk, where furniture will sit, where water needs to go, how shade might be added, and how plants can make the finished space feel softer and more complete.
